Martin Defense Group is excited to announce that Priya Hicks has been named the new Senior Vice President of Engineering (SVPE) effective November 1, 2020.  After a rigorous interview process, Priya was selected as the most qualified person to fill this critical role.

Explaining why Priya was the right choice for the position, Senior Vice President of Administration and Operations Eric Schiff singled out her leadership and management skills.

“Throughout her career, Priya has demonstrated the ability to build and lead successful teams and manage projects requiring advanced technical excellence,” Schiff said. “Not only is she an outstanding engineer with boundless energy, she understands the importance of project members being fully engaged in their work, and how that supports the larger company mission.”

Prior to joining the company in February 2019 as Director of Undersea and Space Systems, Priya spent 12 years at General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB) where she held positions of increasing responsibility requiring technical leadership. She holds B.S degree in Aerospace Engineering from North Carolina State University and an M.S degree in Aerospace Engineering from Old Dominion University.

“It’s an honor to be selected to lead some of the best engineers in the industry and to support the company’s mission in this new role,” Priya said. “I am grateful for the opportunity.”

As Senior Vice President of Engineering, Priya will lead, manage, and mentor a diverse and geographically dispersed group of engineers and other specialists, building teams that are focused on designing and building novel solutions to national problem sets, leveraging emerging technologies, and applying them at the highest levels of technical excellence.

Priya is known for being both highly skilled and personable, with a reputation for keeping all lines of communication open, whether with staff, Directors, or other partners, and she has consistently built strong relationships with colleagues.

“We have the highest levels of confidence and trust in Priya and her abilities in her new role,” Schiff said, “and we expect great results from the teams and projects she leads.”
