Shannon Blackerby

Shannon Blackerby is the Director of Program Management at Martin Defense Group.

Prior to joining Martin Defense Group, he served in the DoD as the Supervising Assistant Program Manager supporting the Naval Special Warfare – Special Programs Office (NAVSEA PMS-340).   In this capacity, Shannon managed a diverse staff of APMs executing RDT&E and Procurement actions for the US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) and managing an active appropriations budget of approximately $500M.  Before his selection as a supervising APM, he served as an APM managing development efforts for; Small Arms Weapons & Ammunitions, Scalable Effects (UAS), Explosive Breaching, Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Electronic Explosive Initiation Systems.  Shannon also served as the Project Lead at NSWC Crane for the USSOCOM Sniper Program and was the lead instructor for the USSOCOM Sniper Weapons Armorers Course.

Prior to accepting employment as a civil servant, Shannon served in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom from Dec 2002 to Feb 2004 as an Intelligence NCO assigned to the US Army 3rd Infantry Division, Maneuver Element.  After completion of “major combat operations” Mr. Blackerby was transferred to Human Intelligence Team 85 (HUMINT 85) to direct security operations.    

Preceding his deployment, Shannon was a Commanding Officer at the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office in Prescott, Arizona where he was the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) Leader, a Physical Fitness Instructor and Firearms Instructor for his agency and the Regional Police Academy. 

Shannon began his servant career in the United States Marine Corps, graduating boot camp in 1986 as Platoon Honor Man, Platoon 1085.
